On October 12th, I lost my beloved, beautiful service dog, Marti to cancer. I can not even begin to tell you the pain and grief I feel,
or how much I miss his sweet gentle ways. I thought that we still had years to be together.
I’ve had three service dogs prior to Marti…each was deeply loved and will forever hold a special place in my heart. But Marti…he
was different. He brought me endless joy and joy to everyone he encountered. He was truly amazing, the epiphany of what a
service dog should be. Always there and ready to work, not just for me, but for other people around the facility. He was loved by
all…he truly had his own fan club.
Since loosing Marti I have reflected on the Canine Support Teams (“CST”) dogs that have been placed with our clients and what
would happen if one of these precious dogs needed help like Marti. Marti’s bills were enormous. What could CST do to help one
of them in their time of need?
Not everyone is as blessed as I have been. Because of this, Andrea Stillman and I are forming the “Marti Fund”. Donations to the
Marti Fund can be made through our website (www.caninesupportteams.org) by clicking on the picture above of my beloved Marti
to make a tax-deductible donation OR checks can be made payable to CST – Marti Fund. The money will be used only for
carefully screened clients, who can not afford the very expensive, critical veterinary medical care for their dog. I also invite
veterinarians to join our team so we can try to help those who can not afford to save their dog.
Our service dogs become part of our souls. PLEASE help those less fortunate to keep their beloved partners well, should they
become critically ill. I thank you and as Marti looks down from Heaven…he thanks you too.

In the old James Bond Movies, Sean Connery always ordered his martini “shaken, not stirred”. I’m shaken right now… and I’m hoping to stir something in all of you.
