Shara Butterworth

Director of Training

Shara’s journey as a K-9 instructor began in 1995, motivated by a service dog she trained for her developmentally disabled niece. She joined Canine Support Teams in 1996. Shara is responsible for training dogs to do highly skilled task work and for teaching inmates at CST’s Prison Pups program. Shara approaches every dog training experience with excitement, joy and patience. As a Canine Behaviorist, Shara is able to assess problems and suggest remedy training techniques unique to each dog.  She has trained hundreds of dogs from a variety of breeds and temperament. Shara is a Certified AKC Canine Good Citizen Trainer and Evaluator. Shara approaches every dog training experience with excitement, joy and patience.

Kerri Amburgey

Kennel Manager-Apprentice Trainer

Kerri began her canine career as a gentle dog groomer in 2012. Kerri routinely uses those grooming skills to make our dogs look fantastic. She is a native San Diegan and Murrieta resident. Kerri loves handling every dog that comes through CST. She has a strong passion for our clients and their service dogs. She is dedicated to becoming a certified training and has been working with our advanced dogs in our prison programs, apprenticing closely with our director of training. Kerri ensures our kennels are pristine, and that our dogs are healthy, happy, and stimulated.

Max Bingley

Puppy Raiser Instructor-Apprentice Trainer and Social Media Manager

Max developed a love for dogs at an early age. He has gained experience handling dogs from his time at a shelter/rescue, grooming, and in kennel management. He joined the CST staff in early 2018 and is an apprentice trainer. Max also works with our dedicated Puppy Raisers, directing them to raise well rounded – future service dogs. Max manages CST’s social media sites and photographs our team trainings, puppy classes, outings, and events. One of his favorite parts about his job is having the ability to enter CST’s Prison programs and work with the inmates on advance training the dogs.

Sally Wing

Marketing & Development Director

Sally transitioned from a CST volunteer to a full-time staff member in 2015. Her background in education, ministry, business, and communications make her an asset in promoting Canine Support Team’s mission in the community. Sally writes grants, seeks donations, and coordinates special fundraising events to drive the operation forward.

Kathryn Brochu

Administrative Assistant

Kate became a volunteer puppy raiser in 2017 and also has volunteered in the office since January 2018, until hired to work as the CEO assistant. Kate works at Carol’s side helping with payroll, general office bookkeeping and organizing to help the office and company run efficiently. She enjoys being part of the crew at Canine Support Teams.

Judy Hernandez


Judy Hernandez is a native San Diegan with more than ten years’ business management experience. Her involvement with Canine Support Teams began in 2017 as a volunteer puppy raiser, and now works as a vital part of our administrative staff. She is a US ARMY veteran, and a recipient of one of our PAWZ for Wounded Vets grants for her own service dog, Grover. Judy, her husband, two kids and four dogs have been Murrieta residents since 2003.
